Los Alamos - A bit of a scare for a local pilot Sunday afternoon. Authorities say a Los Alamos man managed to escape a plane crash without getting hurt.
The small yellow light plane went down on the pilot's own property, the Flying Z Ranch, near Alisos Canyon Road around 12:20 p.m.
The pilot told emergency crews he tried to take off from his own airstrip, but a strong gust of wind caused one of the plane's wings to hit his pickup truck causing the crash landing. The plane's wing and landing gear sustained some damage.
