Dutchess County Airport Open House, Car Show
POUGHKEEPSIE – Several exciting additions have been made to this year’s schedule of activities for the annual Dutchess County Airport Open House & Car Show including the West Point Parachute Team and performances by American Idol Season 14 contestant, Alison Peratikos.
West Point Parachute TeamThe 5th Annual Open House & Car Show will be held at the Dutchess County Airport this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The West Point Parachute Team is scheduled to jump in with the American Flag at 12:00 p.m.
The West Point Parachute Team, The Black Knights, is the United States Military Academy’s Freefall demonstration and competition team. The Black Knights showcase the unique skills and opportunities available to the cadets by providing precision freefall demonstrations in support of Army Athletics, Cadet Reviews, and much more.
Alison Peratikos, who is a Dutchess County native and Natty Records recording artist, will be performing the National Anthem as the Parachute Team arrives with the American Flag and will also perform with her band during the event, beginning at approximately 1:00 p.m.
The Open House & Car Show features a variety of fun and interactive activities for children, families and adults of all ages, including aircraft and antique engine displays, tours, demonstrations and educational seminars.
Admission and parking are free. Aviation enthusiasts will enjoy a variety of aircraft displays including, the C-17 Globemaster Air Force Transport. Additional aircraft on display will include vintage and experimental aircrafts, Grumman Albatross, S-76 helicopter, Cirrus aircraft and airport fire rescue vehicle, and AT-6 WW2 Army Air Corps Trainer. C-17 Aircraft Tours will begin at 9:00 a.m. and run throughout the day.
Angel Flight Network, Civil Air Patrol, Dutchess Community College Aviation Program and the Poughkeepsie Pilots Association will also have displays and information available. A Federal Aviation Administration Safety Team (FAAST) Seminar, “Runway Incursions,” will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the terminal building lobby.
The Dutchess County Firefighters Museum will have antique fire apparatuses and firefighting equipment on display, and attendees will have the chance to cast their vote for their favorite apparatus. Helicopter and plane rides will be available (for a fee) throughout the day.
Children and families will have plenty of activities to choose from including K-9 demonstrations from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and building craft workshops from the Home Depot.
Dutchess Co Airport Open House and Car showThe annual event gives the public the opportunity to learn more about the Dutchess County Airport and its daily operations. Approximately 73,000 aircrafts land or depart from the Dutchess County Airport each year. The Dutchess County Airport has an annual economic impact of nearly $45 million for the local economy.
Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected throughout the day for local Castle Point veterans.
